Two down, one to go
March 26, 2006 – 4:37 amThe Labs in Yorkshire and the North West are amongst the best I’ve been involved in.
The early days at Bore Place were more fun and highly creative. There have been weeks which were just as challenging and have lead to real commissions, like the early Interactive TV Labs for the BBC. I’ve been on Labs in more exotic locations like the Museum of Contemporary Art on Circular Quay in Sydney for the first X Media Lab. But in terms of process and outcome, these have been the most successful.
Matt Locke, who is leading the project for the BBC, anticipated between 3 and 6 commissions from the three labs; six teams have got a ‘yes’ so far (and one was a ‘definitely maybe’) so the project has already exceeded expectation.
And as an added bonus Katz Kiely from Just-B, the BBC’s production partner for the Yorkshire Lab, found a great hotel in which to hold it: good food, relaxed staff, good working spaces, huge bedrooms and a great location.
