The Act of Creation

A post on Goodie Bag TV about James Young’s ‘A Technique for Producing Ideas’ reminded me of Arthur Koestler’s largely forgotten book: ‘The Act of Creation’. Koestler became deeply unfashionable on revelations after his death about his behaviour to women and his work tends to be neglected as a result. It’s a a pity. ‘Creation’, which seems to be out of print in the UK, remains one of the best things I’ve read on the origins of human creativity.

And as a shorter guide to generating ideas it’s worth checking out Bruce Mau’s ‘Incomplete Manifesto for Growth
